A corporate account is opened after the company is registered with the state. The bank does not need originals or copies of the registration certificate and founding documents: it takes the data from the state system. What it expects from you is the authorised person's identity document, signature samples and clear answers about the business — the real work is customer due diligence, not the application form.
Key takeaways
The account is opened after the legal entity is registered: before that there is nothing to open an account for — no tax number and no founding documents in the register. The Regulation on state registration puts it directly: after state registration the business entity applies to banks to open bank accounts.
That procedure sets no hard deadline such as "open an account within so many days of registration". The practical reason not to delay is different: without an account the company cannot take payment, pay rent and salaries, and the accountant cannot record the first transactions.
Technically the account is opened by accepting the offer of the bank account agreement published in the state system. Two forms with signature samples and the identity document of the person authorised to sign payment documents may be submitted to the bank at any time before the first payments — that is written into the Regulation on state registration of business entities.
The basic set is shorter than people usually expect, and it consists almost entirely of documents about people rather than about the company.
Beyond that every bank has its own list — and that is exactly what you should request in writing before the visit, together with the tariff. The general procedure for opening, maintaining and closing accounts is approved by the Central Bank instruction registered under number 3420; banks tune the document details inside that framework.
Compliance is a statutory duty of the bank to check the client, not personal distrust of you. The Law on Countering the Legalisation of Proceeds from Criminal Activity requires organisations that handle funds to apply customer due diligence measures.
That makes the preparation obvious. If the company has a foreign founder or a layered ownership structure, put together a diagram in advance: who holds the shares, who the ultimate beneficiary is, who takes decisions. The wording is in the text of Law No. 660-II of 26 August 2004.
Tip Write a one-page description of the business before you visit the bank: what you do, who your clients are, in which countries, what amounts and how often. That text will serve both at account opening and later, when the bank asks about a specific payment.
Partly yes, and since 2025 there are more options. During state registration banks may remotely open accounts in national and foreign currency for legal entities whose founders are residents of Uzbekistan, and for sole traders — provided the bank has remote identification tools meeting FATF requirements.
From 12 November 2025 the procedure was widened: under amendments to the instruction on bank accounts, IT Park residents and non-residents may open accounts remotely using digital identification tools, and paper cards with signature samples have been dropped for them.
The practical takeaway: the option is not available to everyone or at every bank. Ask specifically whether the bank supports remote identification for your case and what still has to be done in person. How the path up to this point works is covered in the article on how a foreigner can open a company in Uzbekistan.
For a company selling services abroad, the important part comes after the account is opened, in currency control. A resident must ensure repatriation of assets under foreign trade transactions, and foreign trade contracts are registered in a state system.
| Requirement | What it means | What a breach costs |
|---|---|---|
| Repatriation of assets | The resident must ensure payment or counter-performance under a foreign trade transaction; beyond 180 days the transaction is treated as a capital movement operation | A fine of 5 per cent of the amount for delays up to 360 days, a further 10 per cent from 360 to 545 days, and a further 35 per cent beyond 545 days |
| Contract registration | Foreign trade contracts and invoices are entered into the foreign trade information system before foreign trade operations begin | The bank checks the system data on advance payments and letters of credit |
| Service acceptance acts | Acts of works performed and services rendered are entered into the system no later than the 20th day of the month following the month the act was drawn up | Discrepancies surface during foreign trade monitoring |
The deadlines and fines are set in articles 11 and 11-1 of the Law on Currency Regulation: for small business entities the overdue period runs from the ninetieth day rather than the forty-fifth after the 180 days expire. The contract registration procedure is in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 283 of 14 May 2020. These are the requirements that make it worth agreeing the routine with an accountant before the first invoice, not after.
A resident legal entity of Uzbekistan may open accounts outside the country only where decisions of the President, the Government or international treaties provide for such accounts and for the purposes of their use. This is a direct restriction in the same currency regulation law.
If an account abroad is opened on a lawful basis, the company must notify the tax authorities at its place of registration and the Central Bank of the opening, closing and change of account details, and report balances and turnover quarterly — no later than one month after the end of the reporting quarter.
For a typical IT company the conclusion is simple: the settlement and currency accounts are opened in Uzbekistan, and foreign payment services neither replace a bank account nor cancel currency control.
Resident status does not switch the tariff by itself. Preferential terms are offered by individual banks and are activated on the company's application with proof of status attached — until the application is filed, the account is served on the ordinary corporate tariff.
Banks change the terms of such tariffs, so they should be compared against the current documents of a specific bank rather than against articles on the internet. Request the tariff in writing and check the lines that concern you: incoming transfers from abroad, conversion, servicing of the currency account, acceptance of payment documents.
What resident status gives and what obligations it brings is covered in the article on obtaining IT Park resident status, and its money side is in the article on taxes for IT Park residents.
The difference between banks shows up not in advertising but in answers to specific questions. Ask them in writing and keep the reply.
The mistakes repeat themselves, and almost all of them are about preparation.
A separate word on visas: no special visa is needed to open an account or to run the company — the bank looks at documents and at the ownership structure. What an IT Visa gives and who actually needs it is covered separately.
Syntra Systems is an IT company from Tashkent and an IT Park resident. We do not provide banking support or currency control services: that is work for an accountant and the bank. What is gathered here can be checked against the legal acts, with a reference for every point.
Our part starts once the money is moving: invoices and acts stop getting lost, data on clients and payments sits in one system, and reporting is no longer assembled by hand. From the technical support page, the closest services are support of working systems from $700 a month and project development from $1,500 a month.

Partly. During state registration a bank can open an account in soums and foreign currency remotely, if the founders are Uzbekistan residents and the bank has remote identification in place. Since 12 November 2025, IT Park residents and non-residents can also open accounts through digital identification, and paper signature cards have been dropped for them.
The bank pulls the company's data from the state system, so it doesn't need originals or copies of the certificate and founding documents. What it does ask for is a document confirming the authorised person, sample signatures and clear answers about the business.
The law sets no deadline: it depends on the bank and its client screening. It goes faster for a company that brings an ownership chart (who holds the shares, who the ultimate beneficiary is) and a one-page business description; signature-specimen forms can be delivered any time before the first payments.
Who owns the company and makes decisions, how it earns money, who its customers are and in which countries, and what amounts and frequency of payments to expect. Prepare the answers on one page — the same text will come in handy when the bank later asks about a specific payment.
For a resident legal entity this is allowed only where decisions of the President, the Government or international treaties provide for such accounts. The opening, closing and balances must be reported to the tax authorities and the Central Bank.
No. Preferential terms are offered by individual banks and are activated on the company's application with proof of status. Until the application is filed, the account is served on the ordinary corporate tariff.
Register the foreign trade contract and invoices in the foreign trade information system before operations begin, and agree the routine with the accountant: acts for services are entered no later than the 20th day of the month following the month they were drawn up.
